We have discussed on the BPS side not allowing brands to update product names, since some brands mess them up to the point that they negatively impact menus.

Having some sort of approval process could be nice, where a brand has to request a product name change in the portal, which would then create a case in the BPS queue or create some CTA in the new tool.
